Art Exhibition Rules

Theme:
The Japanese word Asobi has a broad meaning; play, amusement, recreation. However you choose to interpret it, your entry to the exhibition will be welcome.
Rules:
1. A submission should consist of one piece of 2- or 3-dimensional work per person, for example, a sketch, painting or photograph, an item of fashion or textiles, a piece of jewellery, a sculpture, illustrated poem etc.
2. There is no specific limit on the size of an entry, but we ask that 2-dimensional works are kept to a limit of up to approximately A3 size.
3. A piece of literary expression may be submitted though it will be judged primarily on its visual appeal and presentation, rather than literary merit.
4. Any work deemed offensive will not be accepted.
5. Any work submitted must be created by the entrant.
6. Copyright remains with the artist, but the Japan Society reserves the right to use images in publicity or reporting related to the exhibition.
7. Any members of the Japan Society (including corporate members); Japan Society family members; Japan Society members’ partners may submit artwork to the exhibition. However, no member of staff or of the council or their immediate families will be eligible for the prize.
8. One entry is allowed per person (not limited to one entry per family).
9. Collaborations are permitted.
10. Entries will be judged during the run of the exhibition. Visiting members will have the chance to vote for their favourite artwork. (One vote per member). The judging panel will take the popular vote into account when reaching its decision. There will be a special prize for the best entry by a child still attending primary school.

12. No responsibility can be taken for entries sent by post, yet not received in the office.
13. The first prize is a Nintendo Wii games console and a selection of games courtesy of Rising Star Games. The runner up prize is a bottle of Hibiki 12 yo whiskey courtesy of Suntory.

Deadline:
All entry forms, including the title of your piece and your contact details, should be received by Monday 29th March 2010. All exhibits must be delivered to the Japan Society office by Monday 12th April 2010.
