Sci-fi surgery: inside the world of medical robots

The exhibition considered how such medical robotic technology has been portrated in popular culture and literature, and particularaly in Japanese manga and anime. This included a manga worshop for families and two film screenings of Osamu Tezuka’s anime work, with an introductory lecture by manga expert Helen McCarthy. There were also additional workshops for families organised, such as, robot building.

The exhibition was highly successful with a total of 15,550 attendees, including 1325 children and teens, visiting the museum. The exhibition also received extensive media coverage and publicity, with advertisements in The Times and Time Out listings, as well as, further articles featured in newspapers, magazines and online via blogs and organisational websites, ranging from New Scientist to tezukainenglish.com
