The Japan-British Exhibition of 1910 at the White City was intended to strengthen the alliance between the two countries in terms of political friendship, trade and commerce. Highlights for British visitors included authentic gardens, temples, tea-houses and water features built by crews of Japanese designers and workmen. Visitors felt themselves transported to Japan when they saw the cherry and almond blossom on the trees, the replica villages and the live displays of traditional crafts and other activities. This centenary exhibition documents the fascinating story of the 1910 Exhibition, which covered almost 11 acres and was visited by more than 8 million people.
