David Cairns has just completed a four year appointment as Head of Investment at the British Embassy and his talk will be of great interest to members of both nationalities.

David Cairns has just completed a four year appointment as Head of Investment at the British Embassy and his talk will be of great interest to members of both nationalities.

David was Director of UK Trade & Investment in Japan from 2006 until July this year He studied Japanese art and language at Oxford University. David entered the Foreign Office in 1993, after an early career in banking (Nomura and Barclays, Tokyo). He has held appointments in Tokyo (’95-’98), Geneva (’02-’06) and London in his recent Tokyo post, he was responsible for the promotion of Japanese investment into the UK and for British business interest in Japan. He heads a team of 60.

Drinks will be served from 12.30pm to 1.00pm in the library (known as the Smoking Room), which is on the first floor; the lunch will be at tables of 10 in The Lloyd George Room.
