Extend your Halloween weekend this year for a powerpoint phantasmagoria of Japanese goblins and ghosts. What is that clattering in the kitchen in the still dead of night? Where does she go wandering so mysteriously in the hours of darkness, that beautiful young wife? As Halloween spirits return to their spectral world, join us for an exploration of the Japanese tradition of yokai and yurei.
Rosemary Bandini first came into contact with Japanese Art when working for Neil Davey in the Japanese department of Sotheby’s in London. While there she met and later married Luigi Bandini, a leading dealer in Japanese art. She went on to work with him in producing catalogues for exhibitions at London’s Eskenazi galleries, taking over his job and producing two further catalogues at Eskenazi following Luigi’s untimely death in 1996.
Since 1998 she has worked independently as a dealer in Japanese art. She is on the editorial team of the Bulletin of the Association Franco-japonaise. She travels widely, lecturing on her subject in both Europe and the USA and has also appeared as an expert on the Antiques Roadshow. From December 2010 she will be working in a new partnership with Max Rutherston, trading as Bandini and Rutherston.
There will also be the usual optional tour of Freemasons’ Hall, starting from 5:30pm (assemble at 5:15pm). Please state when booking whether or not you wish to join the tour.
