Netsuke Carving Workshops

The workshops are usually split into two halves. The first half covers history and design of Japanese Netsuke through the years. The second half gives the students a chance to make their own Netsuke out of modeling clay. This gives them an idea of form, shape and design. I have tried this with adults and younger children. They commented on how they enjoyed the practical side of the lecture as well as the theory.
A short round up of the history to bring the session to a close. This format could be adapted to suit.
