Jill Fanshawe Kato is a Japan-trained potter who exhibits in Japan regularly, where she has had 41 exhibitions . She has travelled widely to pottery centres and villages, keeping visual records for teaching purposes. She taught for 17 years at Goldsmiths College and takes hands-on creative clay workshops in the UK and internationally. Her working methods are basically from Japan with a strong influence from the natural world. Her taught courses cover all aspects of pottery making, including hand-building, throwing , sculptural approaches and colour.

Jill’s slide lectures include such titles as:

  • An English Potter in Japan
  • Japanese Pottery Villages
  • Japanese Pottery for Food and Drink
