Japan Society XV vs London Japanese XV

Saturday saw a Japan Society team take on London Japanese in a first ever rugby match. Much enjoyed by all who attended and played in great spirit, the match was closer than the 25-17 scoreline suggests. Members of the Japan Society team met for the first time on the morning of the match, but by the fourth quarter were really beginning to gel as a team. For their part, London Japanese were generous hosts and made the Society very welcome.

Both teams repaired to a nearby pub for post-match refreshments. On behalf of the Japan Society, John Toppon presented the captain of the winning team with a bottle of shochu. Accepting, Hiroshi Kaneda for London Japanese hoped that there would be many other opportunities for the two sides to meet and get to know each other.

If you are interested in taking part in any future sporting events (rugby, softball, football, golf, tennis etc) please let us know. Enthusiasm is the only important qualification!
