|Brief outline||This project will provide training for artists in the affected areas to adapt existing programmes to the needs of elderly people, so that they can conduct activities in old people’s homes.|
|Capacity building||This will involve study sessions conducted by experienced lecturers on the development of programmes for the elderly, as well as advice on the management of a sustainable organization.|
|Rationale for project||Hana Ichimonme is a care facility set up as a welfare evacuation centre. It provides both day and residential care services. The head of the centre has organized monthly art activities for the residents and day users of the service and has witnessed how the elderly participants have demonstrated their enjoyment through body language and smiles. However, because participating artists came to the project randomly as volunteers, there was no opportunity to work with them on providing a high quality activity appropriate to the needs of the elderly residents.
