Joint Lunch With The Japanese Chamber Of Commerce & Industry

Painters' Hall, 9 Little Trinity Lane, London EC4V 2AD £58 per Head (Cheques made payable to 'The Japan Society') The Guest of Honour at this joint lunch with the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry will be The Lord Malloch-Brown, Minister for Africa, Asia and the UN. Mark Malloch-Brown was one of the four non-party ministers appointed by Gordon Brown on becoming Prime Minister. Lord Malloch-Brown was before that an outspoken and highly regarded Deputy to The Secretary General of The United Nations and has a great deal of international diplomatic and financial experience. He also served as Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme. After stepping down from the UN, he briefly took up the role of Vice Chairman of Soros Fund Management. He has recently visited Japan. His full CV is available to download here. Lord Malloch-Brown is responsible within the British Government for relations with Japan and other countries within that region. In the coming year, in which financial strains and instability are predicted, his role will be of great importance; this talk will therefore be of great relevance to all members. He will speak for about 20 minutes and then take questions. Drinks will be served from 12.30 to 1pm at which time we will sit down at tables of 8 for lunch.
