Lunchtime Lecture
Will Hutton, CEO of The Work Foundation, Observer columnist and author of "The Writing on the Wall, China and the West in the 21st Century" will argue that contrary to the prevailing view, China will not make the twenty-first century its own. Rather China is facing daunting challenges which could derail its rise and deliver a crippling shock to the global economy. Indeed, the economic model that has taken China thus far can not take it much further. As a consequence there are profound implications for authoritarian communism, the US and west's policy in Asia and the way we portray globalisation. How will these dynamics affect the Japanese experience?
