About the Library The Japan Society Library is perhaps the oldest in Britain which deals principally with Anglo-Japanese relations. The collection numbers some 6,000 volumes, covers all aspects of Japanese life and culture and is one of the best available collections with a thread of Anglo-Japanese relations. Amongst the wide range of material, which has been assembled in the century since the establishment of the Society there are many books, including several classics of Western writing on Japan, which have been donated by their authors. The Library serves primarily as a resource for those wishing to learn more about Japan, its culture and society and incorporating all aspects of Anglo-Japanese relations. Archival material documenting The Japan Society's own activities (photographs, cuttings, pamphlets, letters, correspondence, etc) are the intellectual copyright of the Society and permission to cite or reproduce any part would have to be obtained from the Director (Ms Heidi Potter). |
