Friends of the Library VOLUNTEERS WANTED The Library is fully shelved, the catalogue is complete and the society's website now carries its details. We are continuing to invest in the Library's future but the Library Committee would like to invite members to play a part in this by becoming 'Friends of the Library'. We currently have a small team of dedicated 'Friends' who visit the Library once a month to help with the cataloguing and maintenance of the collection. They undertake a variety of tasks including organising the society's archives and conducting research on behalf of members and non-members in the UK and abroad. Our Friends of the Library are: Sachiko Brunning David Bentliff Ruth Hirai Janusz Mondry Assitance provided falls under the following three main catagories and is undertaken based on the Friends inclination and preferences. a) Research To undertake some of the number of requests we receive for small items of research. Deeper research has to be undertaken by those who want it done. However, the society can help small requests, especially from those far from London. b) Maintenance There is a continuing requirement for maintenance on the books. The 'Friends' in this group would undertake a course and then fulfil a planned programme of maintenance on the books. c) Administration There is a never ending task of administration, chasing up late books, pursuing possible purchases, ensuring that we watch sales lists and so on. Those in the Administration Group may be able to do some of their work from home and would fulfil a particularly important task. If you are interested in joing our current group of Friends we would ask the following:
