There are two types of membership:

• Individual (for individuals and families), and
• Corporate (for organisations).

The Japan Society is funded entirely from the income it receives from membership subscriptions. As a learned society and registered charity, we are not able to make profits from our many activities. The total annual cost of running our programmes is £400,000. Much of this, particularly for our schools education and outreach programme, is funded by donations from corporate and individual members. Doners receive special mention in publications and on the website and may be designated all, or in part, in support of particular Society activities.
