Members wishing to play an active role in the Library can do so by becoming ‘Friends of the Library’.

Activity Groups

Friends are separated into three Activity Groups according to personal preference:

• Group 1: Research. Friends in this group assisting with small research requests on behalf of members and non-members in the UK and abroad.
• Group 2: Maintenance. Friends in this group undertake a short course and then fulfil a planned programme of maintenance on the collection.
• Group 3: Administration. Friends in this group undertake a range of administrative tasks such as chasing up late returns, pursuing possible purchases, etc. Many of these tasks can be performed from home.

Getting Involved

If you are interested in becoming a Friend of the Library please contact us with your name, address and Activity Group preference. Please note that Friends must be willing to devote one day per month to their chosen tasks. For insurance purposes, we are also obliged to ask all Friends of the Library to undergo a short security screening process comprising an interview, police record and reference checks.
