The Japan Society is delighted to invite members and friends to an online private tour of the exhibition and concurrent online auction, From Japan with Love, in Sotheby’s first-ever auction dedicated to prints, multiples and photographs by Japanese contemporary artists, which celebrates and explores their global influence

Works by world-renowned artists such as Yoshitomo Nara, Takashi Murakami and Yayoi Kusama shed light on the ambiguous border between pop culture and high art, while photographs by artists from Nobuyoshi Araki to Rinko Kawauchi capture the essence of personal and intimate relationships in contemporary Japan. Also showcased are some of the influential and iconic Japanese photobooks from the 60s and 70s including the first edition of the legendary photo book, Killed by Roses, a collaboration between Eikoh Hosoe and writer Yukio Mishima

This online tour will be guided by Jennifer Strotz from Sotheby’s Prints & Multiples department, who will discuss the context and artistic background behind the works as we examine the prints and multiples in the show.

Jennifer Strotz joined Sotheby's in 2017 after completing her MA at the Courtauld Institute of Art, where she specialized in Print Culture. Bringing museum experience and a passion for works on paper to the Prints Department, she catalogues Old Master, Modern, and Contemporary prints for auction and private sale. Most recently she catalogued Sotheby’s first-ever ‘From Japan with Love’ sale.
