Join us on Wednesday 31 May (held regularly on the last Wednesday of the month) for the next session in our long-running Bilingual Public Speaking Club (BPSC). The topic for March is “Cultural Appreciation or Appropriation?”. Technology, of course, has many innumerable benefits and we are increasingly dependent on it. Is AI a bright future or a menace to our society?

The story is set in 1955, when Jumpei Niki, a teacher from Tokyo, visits a fishing village to collect insects. After missing the last bus home, he is offered shelter in the village. However, he is prevented from leaving and his held captive by the villagers. Tasked with shovelling back the sand dunes threatening the village, his only company is a young woman.
