On Saturday 13 July 2024, members and friends of The Japan society were taken on a private tour of Edo Pop: Japanese Prints 1825–1895 & Hiroko Imada's exhibition at the Watts Gallery - Artists’ Village.
Guided by the curator, Dr Laura MacCulloch, the group were first shown the exhibition Edo Pop: Japanese Prints 1825–1895, which included the first public display of a number of Japanese woodblock prints that portray the characters and daily lives of Edo's locals.
The group were also joined by the artist Hiroko Imada to see her new installation: Hiroko Imada at Watts, which showcases the continuing influence of Japanese woodblock printing.
Many thanks to Dr MacCulloch, Hiroko Imada and Watts Gallery for this wonderful experience!
