Art Without Heroes: Mingei – Special Private Tour - Photos

On Thursday 15 August 2024, members and friends of The Japan Society and Circle of Japanese Art London visited William Morris Gallery for special private tours of their Art Without Heroes: Mingei exhbition.

Guests had the opportunity to view over 80 works, including ceramics, textiles, woodwork, and photography, drawn from the most extensive collection of Japanese folk craft ever displayed in the UK. The exhibition featured rare pieces from private collections in both the UK and Japan, alongside museum loans, and highlighted Mingei as both a historical movement and a continuing source of inspiration on contemporary craft and material culture, offering a truly immersive experience.
