Half-Term Japanese Calligraphy Workshops for Children and Young People - Photos

This October half-term, The Japan Society were pleased to welcome children, young people, and their families to our Japanese calligraphy (Shodo) workshops.

In the workshop, participants were able to learn all about Shodo, a traditional form of Japanese calligraphy, as well as practice writing Kanji using traditional calligraphy brushes and ink. In particular, the children and young people were especially surprised to learn about what some of the traditional calligraphy brushes are made of, as well as how much they can cost!

We were amazed by how enthusiastically the children and young people participated in the workshop and their eagerness to learn all about Shodo. The day overall was a great success, and we hope that everyone had a wonderful time!

The Japan Society would like to thank Aya Burbanks for her calligraphy expertise and our generous Education Supporters for helping to make the workshops possible!

This workshop is part of a series of workshops and events for teenagers and young people, organised by The Japan Society. Want to be the first to know about our upcoming events? Sign up to our Education mailing list.
