Writing the Seasons: Japanese Calligraphy on an Uchiwa Fan - Photos
On Sunday 16 May, we hosted the Writing the Seasons: Japanese Calligraphy on an Uchiwa Fan workshop. Guided by calligrapher Yoko Takenami, participants learnt to write seasonal Japanese phrases that celebrate the transition into summer in both kanji and kana. They also learnt how to arrange their characters on an uchiwa fan to take home.

5月16日（日）、うちわに季節の言葉を書く書道ワークショップ「Writing the Seasons: Japanese Calligraphy on an Uchiwa Fan」を開催。
本ワークショップでは、書道家の竹波洋子先生の指導のもと、参加者が漢字とかなの両方を用いて、初夏の訪れを感じさせる日本語の季語を書写。また、うちわに作品として仕上げ、持ち帰りました。
