Japan Matsuri 2026 - Photos

On Sunday 4 October 2026, thousands of people gathered in Trafalgar Square for Japan Matsuri 2026, the UK's biggest annual festival celebrating Japanese culture and food. Visitors enjoyed a packed programme of performances throughout the day, from taiko and shamisen to visual kei and sumo.

As one of the four corporate directors of Japan Matsuri, alongside the Japan Association, the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the UK and Nippon Club, The Japan Society was delighted to be part of another fantastic festival.

The Japan Society team spent the day meeting visitors at our stall, where people took part in our Matsuri Quiz, picked up some of our new merchandise and tried their luck with an omikuji. Four lucky winners received a free membership to The Japan Society.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat with us and learn more about our events, education programmes and activities throughout the year. We hope to see you again soon!
