Throughout November the Japan Youth Collective took a Deeper Dive into their interests. The group not only started to think more about their particular interests in Japan, but also worked on the skills that would help them find out more. 

On Tuesday 7 November 2023, we welcomed over 120 Sixth Form Students from London, the South and beyond to our annual Sixth Form Japan Day at SOAS, University of London, in association with Ritsumeikan (UK).

The Japan Society is pleased to announce that the 18th World Children’s Haiku Contest 2023-2024 is now open for entries, focusing on the theme of “Family”.

We are pleased to invite sixth form students to attend the annual Sixth Form Japan Day, in association with Ritsumeikan (UK) and SOAS, University of London.

On Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 August 2023, the members of the Japan Youth Collective (all aged 16-19) gathered at Japan House London for their first meetings, and we’re pleased to share that it was a huge success!

The Japan Society is pleased to announce a free short online course for teachers at UK schools to learn all about the soroban, or Japanese abacus, led by Tomoko Hoult a soroban teacher and advocate. 

The Japan Society’s collection of kamishibai, including both traditional folk tales and stories related to Japanese festivals, has expanded to include four new original titles! 

On 10 November 2022 we invited sixth form students back to Sixth Form Japan Day for the first full-day in-person event since 2019, which was a resounding success!
