On Wednesday 30 June 2021, Japan Society chairman Bill Emmott was joined by Gideon Rachman, chief foreign affairs commentator at the Financial Times and Hiroyuki Akita, foreign affairs and security commentator for the Nikkei, to examine the idea that 'the west is back', as recently suggested in an article by Gideon on the G7 summit, and what it might mean in the short and medium term for both the UK and Japan.
