We are delighted to invite members and friends to a special private view of Elena Gileva’s exhibition Enso: Coming Full Circle at White Conduit Project.

Elena Gileva started working with clay in 2010, having an interest in how objects convey historical narratives. In 2014, she participated in the artist-in-residence programme at the Shigaraki Ceramic Sculpture Park, and this was when she first encountered anagama kilns. Making pottery using anagama kilns involves the entire community and landscape; inspired by this process, Elena started incorporating the idea of circularity in her body of work, some of which are presented in this exhibition.

This event is an exclusive opportunity for a guided viewing and a chance to meet the artist. Elena Gileva will be present to discuss her work and its Japanese influences during the evening.

Elena Gileva is a London based artist whose work explores the decorative, historical and ornamental through the medium of ceramics and sculpture. Elena trained in both ceramics and glass at the Royal College of Art after completing BFA Fine Arts Parsons Paris School of Art & Design. She combines various references and processes in her hand-built ceramic objects, which take centre stage in her practice. Archetypal functional objects such as pots, jars and pillars are reworked until they take on new colours, shapes and stories.
