The Education Team is delighted to announce FREE online taster language sessions for secondary school and sixth-form students. Have you been thinking about trying Japanese for a while? Come and learn the basics in our friendly online classroom!

Lesson Content

The sessions are taught by Kae Harding, a native-Japanese speaker and experienced teacher, for secondary school and sixth form students in the UK. Participants do not need any prior knowledge of Japanese to attend the sessions and you will learn how to introduce yourself, say what you’re interested in, and even things you don’t like!

By the end of the sessions, students will be able to:

  • Say their own name and ask others for theirs
  • Different kinds of greetings
  • Tell others where they are from
  • Say some things they like and dislike

About the Teacher

Kae Harding completed a degree in Japanese Language and Literature at Notre Dame Seishin University (Okayama) and an MA in Japanese Language Education at Tokyo Woman’s Christian University. Whilst studying, she conducted research on Japanese-language conversation patterns and trained in teaching Japanese as a foreign language at the University of Toronto. Kae went on to work for several years at the Naganuma School of the Japanese Language in Tokyo and now lives in the UK. She is looking forward to meeting you in her online classroom!

If you have any questions, please call the Japan Society office on 020 3075 1996 or email events@japansociety.org.uk
