Experience Japanese at University and Beyond (University of Sheffield)

Are you in sixth form and interested in Japanese or East Asian cultures?

Join The University of Sheffield and The Japan Society for a unique opportunity to explore Japanese Studies at university and discover future opportunities of undertaking East Asian studies in Sheffield.

Participants will enjoy a taster lecture, language and cultural workshops, plus a panel discussion with University of Sheffield alumni who will share the exciting career paths that studying Japanese can open up. Whether you're passionate about Japan, already learning Japanese, or just curious about East Asian cultures in general, everyone is welcome to come along and find out more!

• Taster Lecture in Japanese Studies

• Panel discussion with Japanese studies alumni speakers 

Panel Speakers includes Karen Maddocks from Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and Helen Whitehead from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC).

Travel bursaries

To ensure this event is accessible for everyone, The Japan Society, with support from the Great British Sasakawa Foundation, are able to provide a limited number of travel bursaries to students who may require financial support in order to be able to attend this event. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to cover the full amount of the travel costs, however if your application is successful, you will receive the bursary in advance of the event. The bursary must be spent on travel-related expenses only and attendance to the event will be mandatory. Failure to do so will result in repayment of the bursary to The Japan Society.
