Shochu Masterclass - Photos

On Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 February 2022, we were delighted to be partnering with the Japan Sake and Shochu Makers Association and Sake Samurai on two special shochu tasting masterclasses. It was a special opportunity for members and friends to learn more about the production of shochu, the different styles of the drink, and how to enjoy it at home.

Guests were welcomed with a special shochu-based aperitif followed by a tutored tasting of five different shochu: rice, barley, potato, sesame and awamori, which they enjoyed with a delicious tasting menu including sashimi, tempura and lamb cutlets. After learning the qualities of different styles of shochu and how best to drink them, at the end of the session participants learnt how to make their own shochu martini at home.
