17th World Children’s Haiku Contest 2021-2022 – Winners

We are thrilled to announce the winners of the JAL Foundation 17th World Children's Haiku Contest 2022. The results will be displayed on the JAL Foundation website, along with translations of the winning haiku in Japanese, in August 2022.

This year, entrants were asked to compose their own haiku on the theme of Towns and submit it with accompanying artwork for a chance to win. The 3 Grand Prize winners will receive a Canon digital camera and other prizes from the JAL Foundation.

It was incredibly hard for our judges to decide the winners this year as we received so many brilliant entries from children across the UK. We would like to thank everyone who entered this year’s contest for sending us their poems and hope they will continue to write haiku inspired by the world around them.

We can now announce the contest prize winners and the runners-up! Take a look at the top 3 winning entries by Isabel, Amelia and Lydia:

Isabel (14)

Amelia (8)

Lydia (9)

A further 23 fabulous entries were selected as runners-up in the contest and will receive a prize from the JAL Foundation. All the winning entries are displayed on our Contest Results page!
