The Japan Youth Collective – January Japan Lab with Fumio Obata

At the first Japan Lab after the New Year, the Japan Youth Collective met with graphic novelist Fumio Obata who spoke about his work and narrative storytelling in the Japanese context and shared his insights about manga and the industry inside and outside of Japan. The Collective also received tips from Fumio about creating their own work and self-portrait, including drawing in a manga style, and made small improvements with each attempt.

Continuing January's theme of Reflect and Refine, the Collective used this session to review and reflect on their JYC journey so far, both individually and collectively, and turned their story into a large illustration!
