18th World Children’s Haiku Contest 2023-2024 – Winners

We are thrilled to announce the winners of the JAL Foundation 18th World Children's Haiku Contest 2024. The results are also displayed on the JAL Foundation website.

This year, entrants were asked to compose their own haiku on the theme of Family and submit it with accompanying artwork for a chance to win. The top 3 Grand Prize winners will receive a Canon digital camera and other prizes from the JAL Foundation. This year, the top grand prize winner from each participating country also has a chance to be chosen as a global winner and win flights to Japan.

We received many amazing entries from children across the UK again this year, as well as some international entries. Our judges were very impressed by the entry selection this year and the wide-ranging response to the theme. After several hours deliberating, they finally decided on the top 3 Grand Prize winners, as well as a further 3 Grand Prize winners and 20 JAL prize winners.

We would like to thank everyone who entered this year’s contest for sending us their poems and hope they will continue to write haiku inspired by the people and world around them.

We are happy to announce the contest prize winners! Take a look at the top 3 Grand Prize winning entries below by Lap Yin, Anna, and Benjamin:

A further 23 wonderful entries were selected as prize winners in the contest and will receive a prize from the JAL Foundation. All the winning entries are displayed on our Contest Results page!
