Japanese Calligraphy Workshop at Hornsey Library - Photos

On Sunday 2 March 2025, The Japan Society Education Team and volunteers were delighted to host a Japanese Calligraphy (Shodo) Workshop for children at Hornsey Library. We were pleased to return after delivering a successful series of workshops in partnership with Haringey and Westminster Council's during East and Southeast Asian Heritage Month 2024, which were enjoyed by local children and their families.

Led by Aya Burbanks, the session introduced children to the traditional art form of Shodo, a form of Japanese calligraphy. They learned the technique for holding brushes and mixing ink before going on to write their names and design calligraphy cards to take home.
