Make Your Own Japanese Lunch: Family Workshop with Clearspring - Photos

The Japan Society was delighted to partner with Clearspring and London-based chef Izumi Nakamura for a fun family workshop filled with creative cooking, tasty treats and the joy of making onigiri together on Tuesday 28 July 2026

In this fun, hands-on workshop, families discovered how to make a selection of simple Japanese dishes they could enjoy creating again, with decorative touches and Clearspring seasonings and ingredients. All ingredients used in the workshop were vegan and the recipes could easily be adapted at home.

Izumi Nakamura is the founder of 5 Incorporated, a sushi chef, dietary consultant and qualified sake sommelier. Originally from Amakusa in southern Japan, she brings a love of wholesome, home-style cooking to the families and communities she works with. Her background as a trained pharmacist informs her balanced, health-conscious approach to Japanese food, and she is known for leading warm, accessible workshops that help people of all ages enjoy cooking together.

This event was hosted by Clearspring, for which we are extremely grateful. Clearspring is an award‑winning organic food company specialising in authentic Japanese and plant‑based products. Founded in 1993 as a family business, it is committed to traditional food‑making methods, sustainable agriculture, and working with artisan producers who share its values. The company is known for championing a nourishing, organic, plant‑based diet, and for inspiring people to enjoy food that is both delicious and rooted in real food integrity.
