Talk Video - Zaido: Documenting a 1,300 year old ceremony

In this special talk on Saturday 10 October 2020, we were joined by photographer Yukari Chikura, who shared with us images taken during a restorative pilgrimage to document the 1,300-year-old ceremony, Dainichido Bugaku, locally known as Zaido. The images from which were recently published in Yukari’s book, Zaido, by Steidl. As well as behind the scenes insights into the stories captured in her photographs, we were given an exclusive chance to see images not featured in the book.

The video of this talk is now available on the Japan Society YouTube channel.
