Becoming a Member 

As a membership organisation, The Japan Society places our members at the heart of all we do. As a member of our active and engaged community, you will have access to over 90 events per year, as well as our publications and communications on all things Japan. In joining The Japan Society you become part of the leading charity in the UK dedicated to enhancing the British-Japanese relationship. With over 1,000 members, spanning individuals, corporates, and charities and institutions, exclusive events for members spanning arts, culture and contemporary Japan, as well as politics and business, and a history of over 130 years there is something for everyone. 


 

Becoming a Donor 

Individual donors are crucial to The Japan Society achieving our mission of strengthening UK-Japan relations. At the heart of this is our education work, which is entirely funded by donors.In 2024 we reached over 60,000 students in the UK across all regions and all ages. The important support of donors also allows us to support and undertake important activities that strengthen ties at all levels between the UK and Japan. 

Alongside the benefits of standard membership, donors receive recognition on The Japan Society website and Annual Proceedings and additional tailored benefits, including the opportunity to shape the ‘Next Generation of UK-Japan Leaders’ programme.

Becoming a Corporate Member

The Japan Society is proud to have over 140 corporate members. Each company joins for unique reasons but all benefit from knowledge sharing and networking, recognition and brand exposure, and development opportunities for their staff.   

Corporate membership allows your key staff and their families to access all the benefits of membership of The Japan Society, including accessing around ​​90 events per year, with many centred on topical business issues. Membership is the key for your business to enter our members’ network and get insight into the full range of cross-border issues by meeting senior UK and Japanese diplomats, civil servants, corporate stakeholders, academics and journalists. The Japan Society also celebrates and recognises members on our website, social media, and key publications.

Becoming a Corporate Partner

Our corporate partners, who donate to our charitable activities, have a tailored set of additional benefits, membership benefits for all staff and their families, and the impact of contributing toward strengthening UK-Japan relations including our education work.

The Japan Society hosts open and private events with key decision-makers across both the private and public sectors. Our corporate partners receive exclusive access to events with policy-makers and industry leaders as well as supported access to our wider network. In addition, corporate partners receive complimentary tickets to our flagship annual events.
