The Japan Society Annual Golf Tournament, for the Asprey and Garrard Plate, will be held at Flackwell Heath Golf Club. The format will be Stableford.

The all-in price is £80, including coffee and a bacon roll on arrival, 18 holes of golf and a sit-down supper on completion. Gideon Franklin Limited, a leading Corporate Partner of The Japan Society, is generously sponsoring the event. There will be competitions for ‘Nearest the Pin’ and ‘Longest Drive’.

The Japan Society golfers will be playing at Flackwell Heath Golf Club, a picturesque heathland course nestled in the Chiltern Hills of Buckinghamshire.

Established in 1904, Flackwell Heath is one of the county’s oldest and most respected golf clubs. Measuring 6,142 yards from the championship tees, the par-71 layout combines the best characteristics of heathland and parkland golf, with rolling fairways, mature woodland, and some of the finest greens in the region. The course’s undulating terrain offers stunning views across the Wye Valley and surrounding countryside, while its small, well-protected greens provide a rewarding challenge for golfers of all abilities.

The opening nine rewards precision and thoughtful course management, while the back nine presents a sterner test, featuring longer par 4s and strategically placed hazards that demand accuracy from tee to green. Among the standout holes is the 2nd, a demanding par 4 ranked among the course’s toughest, where a well-positioned tee shot is essential to avoid the encroaching trees and secure the ideal angle into a narrow, bunker-guarded green.

Another memorable challenge comes at the 15th, a doglegging par 4 played towards an elevated green, requiring both strategy and confidence on approach. The closing stretch offers an excellent finish, culminating in a birdie opportunity at the 18th for those who have successfully navigated the course’s subtle contours and demanding greens.

Renowned for its year-round conditioning and welcoming atmosphere, Flackwell Heath delivers a classic English golfing experience that combines history, character, and an enjoyable test of skill.

Please note that Flackwell Heath is a hilly course, with some steep climbs and undulating fairways that contribute to both its character and challenge. Players who would prefer to use a buggy are encouraged to indicate this when making their booking so that we can reserve one on their behalf. Buggy availability is limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
