The Japan Society is delighted to invite members to a guided tour of NIGO: From Japan with Love the largest survey to date of the internationally renowned artist. 

Explore the vision and legacy of Japanese designer NIGO, from street style to music, in the first UK exhibition of his wide-ranging creative work, alongside pieces from his personal collection. 

Tracing his journey from Harajuku to global influence, this first museum retrospective outside Japan highlights NIGO’s role in bridging streetwear and luxury fashion over a 30-year career. His work spans fashion, music, architecture and design. 

Featuring over 700 objects, the exhibition includes recreations, rare designs, ceramics by NIGO, and a life-size glass tea house. His influences range from vintage Americana and hip-hop to traditional Japanese craft. 

From founding A Bathing Ape to leading KENZO, NIGO’s impact on contemporary culture remains profound. The exhibition offers a unique insight into his creative world, collaborations and enduring influence. 

Rachel Hajek is a curator, writer and researcher based in London. She is a Curator at the Design Museum, where she has contributed to numerous exhibitions and displays, including co-curating Ai Weiwei: Making Sense in 2023. She is co-curator of NIGO: From Japan with Love and co-authored the accompanying exhibition catalogue. Prior to joining the Design Museum, Rachel held curatorial positions at Tate Modern.
