In 1949, Iva Toguri is charged with treason in one of the most controversial trials in American history. Iva stands accused of being the notorious 'Tokyo Rose', a Japanese wartime disc jockey who broadcast Axis propaganda to the Allied forces in the Pacific. But was Iva the villain she was made out to be?

The award-winning Burnt Lemon Theatre is bringing Iva Toguri’s story to the stage in a new musical on tour across the UK from 16 September through to 30 October (see below for tour dates and venues). Developed from their 2019 Edinburgh Fringe hit show, this new production sheds light on a fascinating and determined woman and her life trapped between the USA and Japan.

In this special event, Japan Society chairman Bill Emmott is joined by the musical’s producer Tanya Agarwal and co-writer Maryhee Yoon to discuss the inspiration behind this production and how they have managed to transpose a complex life into the form of a stage musical. Offering a peek into rehearsals and extracts from the soundtrack, please join us for an informative and immersive Sunday morning special!
