Dojima Sake Brewery is the first Japanese owned sake brewery in the UK, which opened in 2018 with a mission of deeper understanding and appreciation of sake. The owner, the Hashimoto family has been brewing sake since 1822 in Settsu Tonda in Osaka prefecture, a region with over 500 years sake brewing history.

The brewery is set in the picturesque grounds of the Fordham Abbey estate, which was once a 13th century Gilbertine priory founded in the reign of Henry III. Its grade II listed Georgian manor house was built in the 1700s and is an historic cultural gem, much cherished by local people.

Megumi Takeyama is the founder of MEGUMI’S Supper Club and the owner of RISE Japanese Bakery & Bar. RISE is the only official bakery using Dojima’s sake kasu for their specialty Japanese style breads. Megumi will be cooking sake kasu lunch for the visit and will demonstrate how to use sake kasu.
