The Grand Sumo Tournament is coming to London, and The Japan Society has secured a limited number of highly sought-after tickets to attend on Saturday 18 October 2025 at the Royal Albert Hall.
From 15 to 19 October, the Royal Albert Hall will be transformed into a temple for Sumo, complete with an authentic dohyo (ring) made of traditional soil and sand, and a suspended roof modelled after a Shinto shrine. More than 40 of Japan’s top maku-uchi rikishi (wrestlers) will take to the ring, embodying the 1,500-year-old legacy of Sumo. Each match promises an enthralling display of explosive power and ritualistic elegance, from the vibrant, hand-embroidered silk kesho-mawashi to the time-honoured salt purification rituals.

You should receive an automated email from The Japan Society to let you know that your ballot entry has been registered. If you don't receive any confirmation emails, please check your spam folder or email events@japansociety.org.uk. - Ballot Rules
- Entry is only open to current members (as of 6 August 2025) of The Japan Society.
- Due to the extremely limited number of tickets, tickets are limited to one ticket per membership - including family and corporate memberships - which is not transferable.
- Deadline to enter the ballot: 8 September 2025.
- Succesful applicants will be selected randomly and will be contacted by Monday 15 September 2025. They will receive a secure payment link to buy their ticket and complete the booking by Thursday 18 September 2025.

Selected members who finalise the booking will receive further details to attend the event closer to the date. Please note this is a group entry, so all attendees must enter together at the same time. - Cancellation Policy
Tickets for this event are non-refundable. If you cancel your place after buying the ticket, we will attempt to resell your ticket. If we are unable to resell your ticket, unfortunately, we will not be able to offer a refund. - Waiting List
If selected members are unable to attend or do not complete the payment before the deadline (Thursday 18 September 2025), another applicant will be selected randomly from the waiting list to buy the ticket.
