Since the early 2010s, Japan has been amidst a growth in media, scholarly, political and societal discourse surrounding sexual and gender minorities known as the LGBT Boom. This talk will examine the issues surrounding queerness that are discussed in contemporary Japan and how these are then represented in media texts.

Dr Ken Koyama, Chief Economist and Managing Director of Institute of Energy Economics, Japan (IEEJ), will present an outline of the IEEJ’s flagship project on global energy demand and supply outlook until 2050. Professor Jonathan Stern of the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies will join the discussion as a commentator.
