Meeting of Japan Societies across the UK
Last Monday, 29 June, we brought together Japan societies and community organisations from across the UK in Liverpool, with the support of the Embassy of Japan in the UK.
The Japan Society Public Lecture Series: April – June 2026
In April, May, and June 2026 we hosted a series of lectures exploring contemporary Japan, from rural sustainability and community resilience with Dr Marco Reggiani, to the human rights challenges facing incarcerated mothers with Professor Laura Abbott, and the role of visual art in Japan's countercultural movements with Dr Marco Bohr.

The Japan Society at the FT Nikkei UK Ekiden
On June 12, 2026, The Japan Society Trustees Darren Goff and Clare Weaver participated in the 3rd FT Nikkei UK Ekiden. As members of the State Visit Legacy Team, they completed a 112km relay along the Thames Path to celebrate the strong friendship between the UK and Japan.

The Japan Society Public Lecture Series: January-March 2026
In January, February, and March 2026 we hosted a series of lectures that explored the global evolution of the samurai with Professor Oleg Benesch, human rights challenges with Dr Sanae Fujita, and a reconsideration of the samurai by Dr Rosina Buckland, lead curator of the British Museum’s landmark exhibition.
