Teaching Recommendations

Are you interested in teaching about Japan or incorporating Japan into your curriculum? We have a wide range of free online resources to engage and inspire children and young people from Key Stage 1 up to Key Stage 5. Our online resources cover a variety of subjects including Art, English, Geography, Maths, PE, as well as other cross-curricular and extra-curricular enriching resources.

Key Stage 1

Inspire young pupils to think about the world around them and encourage their natural curiosity with these fun and simple resources and activities, ideal for KS1 children. 

  • Kamishibai - Originating from Japanese street theatre in the form of picture card storytelling, using picture cards to share fun and colourful stories about Japan and Japanese culture!

  • Radio TaisoA 3-minute exercise routine that is commonly used for group warm-ups, perfect for PE and Sports Days. 

  • Colouring sheets - A range of colouring sheets available for you to print out and use in your classroom anytime!

Key Stage 2

Our recommended resource guide, designed for a 7 week half term are ideal as an introduction to Japan for KS2 pupils. 

Each lesson offers a closer look at different aspect of Japanese culture and life, from engaging in activities centred around special seasonal festival and celebrations, to writing haiku, to learning about what life at a typical elementary school in Japan is like!  

We also offer a diary worksheet that pupils can fill in each week to reflect on their learning about Japan so far. - should this be linked to another page, a downloadable pdf or included on this webpage
