As tensions increase around the island of Taiwan, Japan Society chair Bill Emmott is joined by two experts who have long watched the ebb and flow of politics and diplomatic relations in the region: Yasuhiro Matsuda, professor at the University of Tokyo’s Institute for Advanced Studies on Asia and Meia Nouwens, Senior Fellow for Chinese Defence Policy and Military Modernisation at the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

The Japanese Conversation Group provides a friendly and informal atmosphere for Japanese speakers of all nationalities to come together and speak Japanese. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month.
15/08/2022ARCHIVED Lord Sempill and Japan: Traitor or Spy-Myth?
In this lecture, Alex Hardie will explore the life of Lord Sempill (1893-1965), a distinguished aviator and a lifelong friend of Japan who was labelled “the traitor of Pearl Harbor.” He will argue that the archival evidence does not support the prevailing view of Sempill as a spy who betrayed British and American interests.

A cult classic mystery novel about students from a university mystery club who visit Tsunojima Island: the site of a series of violent murders. After the students start getting picked off one by one, they must utilize all their murder mystery knowledge to escape the Island with their lives.
