The Mingei Film Archive is an ongoing project to locate, restore and preserve films on the history of craftsmanship in Japan and beyond. For this lecture, filmmaker and potter Marty Gross will share with us how the Mingei Film Archive was created and developed showing films by Bernard Leach and other craftpeople in Japan.

Sashiko (刺し子)is a traditional Japanese stitching technique for mending clothes, developed by working-class people such as farmers and fishermen during the Edo period. It’s a form of upcycling, making garments stronger and lasting longer.
