The Japan Society

Jasmin Lau

Jasmin Lau began her Japan journey in 2013, embarking on the JET Programme for 3 years in Shizuoka-ken as an Assistant Language Teacher.

As London Chair at JET alumni association, her leadership has driven meaningful growth and strengthened the community upon JET participants’ return from Japan. Building on that success, her transition to National JETAA Chair allowed her to scale that impact across multiple chapters. Her tenure has been defined by a commitment to community building, ensuring that grassroots UK-Japan relations remain strong. Highlights include meeting the emperor (representing the thousands of JET participants that have facilitated cultural exchange), spearheading a mentorship programme, and creating a spotlight series of alumni.

Additionally, her role as senior customer account manager at a tech firm has Jaz working with clients from all over the globe, often working with Japanese & APAC teams. She headed up the Asian and Pacific Islander employee resource group for two years, ensuring that minority voices are heard, represented and accounted for.
